Walks & Events

Our walks and events are a great way to try out a Wise Oak class without the commitment of a full course. You can also drop-in to the workshops in our seasonal courses.

Mount Royal Nature Walks

Get in touch with nature, in the heart of the big city.

If you’re a Montrealer, you probably love walking on Mount Royal, but how well do you actually know its wild inhabitants? Most people jog past trees, plants, animals, and fungi without truly noticing or knowing them.

In these 2-hour walks, you’ll peer into the intricate and hidden world of the forest. We’ll help you recognize rich details you never noticed before and help you become more ecologically literate, able to read the stories written in the forest.

Friluftsliv Series

Our Friluftsliv walks are offered in collaboration with Trine Mikkelsen of Lykkå Village, who will share her community-building magic. This is a chance to not just connect with nature, but to carve out a space for self-care and forge social connections.

What is Friluftsliv?

In Scandinavian culture, Friluftliv means living in harmony with nature by simply being outdoors. It’s not about how high you can climb or what gear you have, but how present you are when you’re there.

Friluftliv is a balm for our busy and often lonely world. It’s a chance to slow down, reconnect with yourself, nature, and a community of like-minded people.
